A little about my background so you know where I come from:
I was born in Armenia and grew up in Russia after moving back and forth several times, as my father was working there. I moved to US when I was 19 with a dream to go to college and study interior design. But shortly after taking a few classes I found that it wasn't really for me. I have the passion for more hands on art. So, to explore it a little further I might have taken almost every art class my collage was offering, and enjoyed it so very much! :) This gave me a wonderful knowledge and experience and now allows me to look at things with a wide range of possibilities when creating my images. I majored in 3D Animation, then in Ceramics and Photography.
I have 2 older brothers. We were born about 4 years apart. I don't yet have children, but I have a niece and a nephew, whom I am crazy about! They live with my older brother in Russia, so I don't get to see them very often. Missing them may be one of the reasons why I find so much love in what I do. I guess I give a little piece of my love for them to every child I photograph.
In 2010 I quit my day job as a bookkeeper and became a full-time photographer. I feel blessed to be doing what I love. It is such an honor to have the opportunity to create art that tells the story of someone's life, shows the delicate beauty of a newborn, a child's personality, and love in a family. To help them capture a special milestone and relive the emotions of it for many years to come. To capture the family history that will be cherished for generations.
This deep appreciation might be coming from the fact that I don't have many decent photos of myself growing up. In fact none during my first year. And not a single family portrait :( We have some snap shot, usually with other people in the picture, or with one of us missing… but not one beautiful family portrait. So that is my dream, to see my entire family in one place and finally capture a family portrait where we are all together. We live too far apart and in today's hectic life it's a pretty challenging dream to have, but I am working on it!
